Neuromuscular Therapy
Neuromuscular therapy is a specific soft tissue technique especially beneficial in relieving muscular pain caused by accident or injury. We seek out areas of tenderness that refer pain to another part of the body. Massage is then applied, allowing the injured areas to relax so they can be gently stretched and mobilized. Circulation is improved and the body returns to its normal neuromuscular integrity and balance.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger point therapy is a bodywork technique that involves the applying of pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body.
The purpose of trigger point therapy is to eliminate pain and to re-educate the muscles into pain-free habits. After several treatments, the swelling and stiffness of neuromuscular pain is reduced, range of motion is increased, tension is relieved, and circulation, flexibility and coordination are improved.
Prenatal Massage
Prenatal massage can address common problems like, headaches, hip and low back pain, swollen feet, and more. Using reflexology techiniques, prenatal massage also has potential to induce labor near the due date.
In pregnancy the body is going through a number of changes. As the body prepares itself for the newborn, both the muscular and skeletal systems are changing to adapt to the growing fetus. We work with the expectant mothers to relax key muscles such as those in the mid and lower back. The desired result is to accommodate necessary body changes and reduce the accompanying stress and pain thus providing for a more comfortable pregnancy.
Reflexology
Specific work on the feet designed to stimulate and improve the health of the entire body. Reflexology is a science that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all the glands, organs and other parts of the body. This technique uses the thumb and fingers on the reflex areas. Foot and hand reflexology includes, but is not limited to:
Relieving stress and tension
Improving blood supply and promote the unblocking of nerve impulses
Helping hands, feet and organs achieve balance
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fiber's of the muscles, tendons and fascia.
Deep tissue massage is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles not with the grain. Deep tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. However, if the massage is done correctly you should feel better than ever within a day or two.
Therapeutic Massage
A specific massage, custom-designed for your areas of particular muscle soreness or tension. Pressure will be adjusted according to your comfort level, from light to deep pressure.
